Episode #30: Improving Outcomes for Women post Knee Injuries with Dr Andrea Bruder

Dion Kapnias

Today I travelled to my old stomping ground at La Trobe University in Melbourne to speak with Dr. Andrea Bruder! Andrea is a researcher and lecturer at La Trobe University with a keen interest in primary and secondary prevention of knee osteoarthritis. Part of her work looks at reducing the gender disparity in musculoskeletal injury risk and long-term burden, as she will speak about today. Andrea was also the clinical coordinator of the Prep To Play Program in the AFLW, which has had tremendous success thus far at reducing the rate of injuries in the competition.

We speak about the gender disparity in knee injuries and subsequent osteoarthritis, and why this may be, primary and secondary preventative strategies, where physios can get better in this space, and much more.

Andrea has been part of some incredible research to date, and has lots of exciting projects underway, so be sure to keep up to date with her work !
