Episode #36: Helping kids to enjoy and increase their physical activity with Dr Free Coulston
Today I met up with Dr Free Coulston at The University of Melbourne to discuss how we can help kids to enjoy and increase their physical activity!
It's certainly a different topic to many others that I've previously covered, but I learnt so much from Free! She's doing some amazing work in this space, and it was a pleasure to chat to her.
We speak about our role as physios in this space, guidelines kids should be aiming for, how to work alongside parents to help their kids, considerations for those with a disability, and much more.
Free is currently working on a project whereby she is looking to recruit parents of pre-school aged kids who were born pre-term. Her team is then aiming to help get them involved with local organisations who can help boost their levels of physical activity - eg karate clubs or inclusive sports clubs !
