Episode #39: Dementia with Professor Kwang Lim and Cindy Phan
Today I spoke to Professor Kwang Lim and Cindy Phan at the Royal Melbourne Hospital on the topic of Dementia!
Kwang is a Geriatrician who works as the Clinical Director for Medicine and Aged Care at Royal Melbourne Hospital. He has an interest in dementia, falls and functional decline in older people
Cindy finished uni at the same time as me in 2021, and has experience ranging from general medicine and intensive care to community rehabilitation. She is particularly passionate about neurological conditions, falls prevention and gerontology.
Together, they started Bryta - an exercise and brain training program designed for anyone over 60 years of age who would like to exercise their brain and body at the same time
As I learnt today, combining cognitive and physical activity is particular effective for those with dementia, which is what Bryta's program is all about!
Check out my recent Instagram post which showcases some of the tech they use - it's really cool!
